What is a Discover Gift Card?

A Discover Gift Card is a prepaid stored value card that can be used for purchases where Discover Network Cards are accepted in the United States, except ATMs, check-cashing agencies and certain locations where an authorization may be attempted for an amount that exceeds the value of the card (e.g., pay-at-the-pump gas stations).

Do Discover Gift Cards expire?

Your Card does not contain an expiration date and, therefore, the Available Funds on your Card will never expire due to the passage of time. The "valid thru" date indicated on the front of your Card is not an expiration date, but is intended primarily for fraud protection purposes and also permits your Card to be used with certain Internet or mail/telephone order Merchants. After the "valid thru" date, your Available Funds will be temporarily unavailable until you contact Customer Service for a replacement Card with a new "valid thru" date. You may contact Customer Service at any time to obtain a replacement Card and such Card will be provided to you free of charge. You will need to provide Customer Service with the Card number to receive your replacement Card.

Purchasing Discover Gift Cards

What does it cost to purchase a Discover Gift Card?

There is a $3.95 packaging fee for each original gift card and a $6.95 fee for the gift card package with matching greeting card.

Are there any additional fees associated with purchasing a Discover Gift Card?

As a purchaser, you will only be charged the processing and packaging fee plus the amount you place on the card. Standard shipping is free! Express shipping can be selected for $9.95 per unique shipping address. As a user, Discover Card will assess a $2.50 maintenance fee per month if the card is not used for 12 consecutive months after activation. These fees will not be deducted if there is any activity on the card within a 12-month timeframe. Subject to applicable law, Discover Card will deduct a $5.00 card replacement fee from your available funds in the event you request a replacement card for an expired, lost or stolen card.

Can I personalize a Discover Gift Card?

Yes, there are several ways to personalize a Discover Gift Card. You have the option to write a personal message on the greeting card with the premium gift package or on the card carrier for the original gift card. You also have the option to emboss the recipient's name and a greeting on the gift card plastic itself.

How many Discover Gift Cards can I purchase at a time?

You may purchase up to 20 cards during a single order, up to a total value of $3,000 (not including processing and packaging fees) within a 7-day period.

Do I receive Cashback Bonus on the purchase of a Discover Gift Card?

Yes, if the purchase is made using a Discover Card. However, purchases made with a Discover Gift Card do NOT qualify for Cashback Bonus since Discover Gift Cards are NOT linked to a Discover Card account.

Can I send a Discover Gift Card anywhere in the world?

Discover Gift Cards can be sent to all but the following states within the United States: Colorado, Hawaii, Rhode Island, Tennessee and Vermont. Gift cards cannot be mailed anywhere outside of the United States.

Premium gift card packages come with a gift card attached inside the high-quality greeting card, along with a blank greeting card envelope that is mailed in an outer envelope. Original gift cards are placed on a card carrier. You can include a personal message in both.

How can I check the status of my order?

Once an order has been submitted, you should receive an e-mail confirmation that will provide you with information regarding approximate time of arrival. Express shipments should arrive within 3 business days if your order is placed before 6PM CST, and standard shipments typically arrive within 5-7 business days. Problems Purchasing Your Discover Gift Card

What would cause my purchase of the Discover Gift Card to be declined?

Your purchase may be declined for one of the following reasons: (1) Your billing address does not match the address listed as the billing address for your credit card; or (2) You have exceeded the purchase limit of $3,000 or 20 cards within a 7 day period, or (3) other credit card related reasons for transaction declines.
